ABOUT VRINDAVAN SCHOOL

The school is located on the lap of the spectacular picturesque Himalayas, nestled on the foothills of the Deolo Hill at an elevation of 4,100 feet, with a pleasant climate of which Kalimpong can boast. Located at a distance of 5 kilometer away from Kalimpong town, enroute to Algarah on the Rishi Road, it is ideally situated for the growth and development of children. The school is spread over a vast expanse of land covered with forest, natural streams and beautiful garden - hence the name VRINDAVAN.

The world is fast entering into the 21st century and what is noticed remarkably is the very fact that we seem to have forgotten basic moral values and civic sense. At Vrindavan we impart high quality education with solid foundation, which enrich rewarding experience. To overcome fears and frustrations of their daily lives and to develop their hidden talents the school organises academic programmes and extensive curricular activities. Besides the traditional system , the school has introduced nature classes, for children to practically learn more about the environment. At the same time new techniques, such as computer studies with the latest educational CDs are available for the students.

HISTORY

'Vrindavan School' is not just another English Medium School; it is a school with a difference. A team of highly qualified and trained teachers started the school, to accommodate the rush for the best education available. The high school is co-educational and and recognised under the ICSE Board, New Delhi. Our affiliation number with the council is : WB 256/2004.

At Vrindavan, we impart high quality education with solid foundation, which enrich rewarding experience. EDUCATION SYSTEM

The school is affiliated to the Council of the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) New Delhi. The entire syllabus is divided into three terms. We also conduct monthly tests, unit tests and revision tests for the benefit of the students.

The school offers a choice of specialization from Class 9 onwards where the students can choose Science, Commerce and Humanities streams as per his / her choice of subjects. The entire syllabuses are curent and are pertinent to the challenges and the changes in education. Different departmental heads encourage the students to achieve their potential with sound and stimulating excellence in every subject. Hence the result of ICSE till today is 100%.

ACTIVITIES

The aim of the school is to produce well-rounded personalities who can fae the outside world with confidence. S, the school is vibrant with activities round the year. The school has facilities for popular sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, table tennis, badminton, throw ball, swimming, etc. The Tae-Kwon-Do Club of the school is well known in the District level. Regular House tournaments and the annual school events are held to lift the prestigious trophies.

Elocution, quiz and debate competitions are held to encourage the students. Cultural events are held regularly along with the Annual School Concert. The students avail of the various SUPW Clubs in the school, namely viz. music, dancing, singing, violin, literary, eco-club, pipe band, knitting, gardening clubs of the school, and enjoy themselves during the learning process. Student excursions are planned in advance, as they grasp more during the field study than in the usual four walls of the classroom.

FACILITIES

Keeping in mind "a home far away from home", we provide the best accomodations for our boarder with the comforts and the warmth of a home, near the school. The dormitories are spacious, clean and airy. We serve Hindu and English diets to the students. Trained staff are on duty to look into the needs of the children along with teaching them the basic habits. Fresh local vegetable and diary products from the adjoining farms are always availed, as we are concerned about the children's health.

Well equipped modern science laboratories for all subjects. Comprehensive library with well stocked wide range of books, journals, newspapers etc. for the students which are regularly updated. Wide rnage of game facilities of all popular sports with proper coaches.

Strict study hours are followed for the academic upliftment of the child. During recess time, there are many indoor and outdoor games in which the children indulge. Spiritual and moral values are always taught during free time.

When applying for admission the following documents must be submitted:
1. Formal application addressed to the Principal for issuance of School Prospectus along with the pre-admission admit card on payment.

2. Successful candidate to collect admission form on payment, and submitted to the office with the required documents as mentioned in the admission form, within two weeks, thereafter the admission offer will be cancelled.

3. Minimum age acceptable is as follows:
Nursery - 3 to 4 years
KG I - 4 to 5 years

Afternoon - 1.00 p.m. till 3 p.m

Note: The office remains closed on all school holidays.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Grey socks with mustard yellow stripes, black laced shoes, school tie with grey, yellow and white stripes, and machine knitted grey sweater with yellow stripes along with the school monogram. House badges and black school belts, with school monogram. All these items are common to both girls and boys, and are available with our authorised uniform dealer.

JUNIORS- Nursery till Class IV
Girls (Winter): Dark grey tunic with white full-sleeved shirt, along with school tie, socks, and school sweater.
Girls (Summer - Junior design): Prescribed yellow checked tunic with bloomers, grey socks, black laced shoes.
Boys (Winter): Dark grey half pants, white full sleeved shirt, along with school tie, socks and school sweater.
Boys (Summer): Dark grey half pants, yellow checked half shirt, grey socks and black-laced shoes.

SENIORS - Class V and above.
Girls (Winter): Light grey tunic, same colour blazer, school crest, white full sleeved shirt, school tie, grey socks, black laced shoes, school belt and house badges.
Girls (Summer - Senior design): Prescribed yellow checked tunic with bloomers, grey socks and black-laced shoes.
Boys (Winter): Light grey full pants, same colour blazer, school crest, white full sleeved shirt, school tie, grey socks, black laced shoes, school belt and house badge.

For physical training classes the students must wear white house colour stripped socks, white shorts / boys (with house colour stripes), white skirts / girls (as per official design) house colour T-Shirt and white P.T. Shoes (keds).
New Track Suits has been introduced which is compulsory from class 4 and above which is available in the School Office.

Note: Students are advised not to attend school with slippers / chappals, until they have reason to do so. Baggy, flared, drainpipe pants are not permitted. Shortened or tight skirts / tunics are not allowed. No fancy jewellery, hairstyles or hair dyes are permitted. Uniform will be checked everyday!

WITHDRAWAL

1. Withdrawal at the end of the session should be made in writing to the Principal on or before 31st December, failing which the Security Deposit will be forfeited.
2. In case of withdrawal of a child during the academic session, it will be necessary for the parents to give two months notice in writing to the Principal. The parents have to pay the fees till the month of the issue of the Transfer Certificate. Kindly note that the Security Deposit shall be forfeited in such cases.
3. If the student is expelled from the school for going against the rules laid down by the school, arrear in fees, irregularity, no improvement in studies even after repeated reminders or is mentally unifit than the fees and the Security Deposit will be forfeited. In cases where the fees are due, Transfer Certificate will not be issued.
